Bed & Table Linens
Before using your linens To stabilize colours and dimensions, it is recommended to soak your linens in cold water without detergents for a few hours or overnight.
Washing Instructions Always follow the care instructions on the product label.
Separate white from coloured linen.
Machine wash in warm water on a gentle cycle, at no more than 40 degrees Celsius.
Use a gentle liquid detergent. Do not use chlorine, bleach, stain removers or detergents with lighteners. Do not use fabric softeners. As our grandmothers recommended, add one cup of white vinegar to the rinse water to remove any trace of soap and leave fabrics smelling fresh.
For coloured linens, it is recommended to wash pillowcases and duvet covers inside out to protect colors. Tumble dry on low.
Drying Dry your laundry as soon as the washing cycle ends.
The ideal way to dry textiles is air only. If you must use a dryer, use the lowest setting and do not dry completely. Do not over dry, otherwise the fabric overheats and dries out, making it brittle and lifeless overtime. Always remove them while they are still damp, it will make ironing easier.
Ironing Iron when the textiles are still damp. Use a well-padded ironing board and a clean iron. Use a steam iron on a warm/hot setting for cotton. Use a hot setting for linen. If you prefer a shabby chic look do not iron and put the sheets on while still a bit damp. When ironing embellishments or embroideries, place face down on a terry towel so that the embellishments will preserve their original appearance. Avoid using spray starch.
Folding and storing Simply fold them neatly. Do not store your bed linens in plastic storage bags. If you need to store them, use an old pillowcase. Make sure your laundry is completely dry when storing it. Storage space should be dry and away from light with some air circulation.
NB: Natural textiles might shrink a little during the first wash. If you wash and dry your laundry at high temperatures, the shrinkage will be more obvious. Make sure to observe the appropriate washing and drying temperatures.
Bath Linen
Before using your towels Ideally, it is best to soak your towels overnight to maximize absorbency and softness. If you cannot, wash your towels before the first use. The maximum absorption capacity will be reached after a few washes.
Washing Separate dark colors and light colors.
Machine wash in warm water on gentle cycle. Use a mild liquid detergent without added bleach of whiteners.
Do not use a softener which coats the fibers and decreases their absorbency.
Drying Dry on low setting and remove before completely dry. Line dry completely then fold and iron if needed. To protect the softness and absorbency of towels, it is better not iron the towel. You can iron the embroideries or embellishments on the reverse side of the towel.
In case of pulled loops, you can simply cut them at the height of the other loops.
Folding and Storing Simply fold them neatly and store them in a nicely ventilated closet. Do not store them in plastic bags or containers. Like all natural fabrics they need to breathe.
