Checkers

A CHARMING CLASSIC.

Life in the French countryside has a distinctive, lively charm, one that comes with its own varied histories and traditions. Kelsh fabrics originated in the 18th century in the Eastern region of France, Alsace—“kelsh” is derived from the German “Kolnisch Blau,” a native plant that was often used for blue dye. These fabrics formed what we commonly know as “plaid” today, widely popularized for both its beautiful, faded colors and light textures.

A true testimony of the Alsatian lifestyle and taste, Kelsh fabrics evoke both classic, timeless design and age-old expertise. These handwoven textiles come in a variety of beautiful checks and stripes, each line representing subtle differences in technique.

Our Checkers collection is inspired by this mix of the playful and intricate within Kelsh design—with different colors and patterns, we have created a composition that brings a more relaxed, bohemian air to the interior. The variety within the collection opens up the room, inviting the space to creatively experiment and showcase your own distinct personality.
